Assassin’s Creed: Codename RED Release Window Leaked by Ubisoft Partner
One of Ubisoft's partners revealed Assassin’s Creed: Codename RED's release window, trailer premiere date and first gameplay showcase.
Information shared in a tweet on Ubisoft partner and content developer BunnyTheVillain's X account claimed that the game will launch in November 2024. In the preceding months, fans could look forward to a trailer world premiere in May and a gameplay showcase presented at the UBI Forward event in July. In the tweet, BunnyTheVillian states, “It will be the most enjoyable game in the franchise, " following the prior entries, Assassins Creed Mirage, positive reception.
While the development of the next installment of Assassin's Creed has not been a secret, this information gives fans something more concrete to look forward to. First revealed at Ubisoft's annual UBIForward event in 2020, gamers were treated to a 30-second teaser trailer revealing an assassin brandishing a katana instead of the series trademark weapon, the hidden blade. This version of the protagonist was later corroborated by veteran Ubisoft writer, Pierre Boudreau, featuring artwork of a female assassin with a katana; an equally sengoku-esque banner accompanied this.
The game is touted as part of the Assassin's Creed Infinity project, an attempt at bridging the gaps between the many Assassin's Creed projects and an overall expansion of Ubisoft's offerings. In March of 2023, Arisa Lagunzad, the Business Development & Brand Partnership Executive at Ubisoft, put out a post looking for brand partners in 2024, possibly confirming the release window. Later in the post, she elaborates on the series’ multimedia expansion, mentioning podcasts and manga.
Assassin’s Creed’s settings have explored a vast array of locales and periods but have shied away from the one that was the most requested by fans -- Japan. Vice President Executive Producer of the Assassin's Creed series, Marc-Alexis Côté, has stated that the game will take place in feudal Japan and that the Infinity Hub will allow players to connect in a meaningful way.
Assassin’s Creed: Mirage is available for PC, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation.
